This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Redwood City is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Redwood City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We came here for a team lunch and had a good overall experience. The restaurant seemed to be operating with limited staff, so service wasn't very proactive. We often had to flag someone down when we needed assistance, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The food, however, was the highlight of the meal. Most of the dishes we tried were well received by the team, and everyone left satisfied. For drinks, we ordered the Spicy Tamarind Mangonada, Lychee Martini, Burma Dream, and Italian Soda. All were enjoyable. The Lychee Martini was especially memorable because we spent way too much time debating whether the floating garnish was lychee, shrimp, or even tiny eggs. 😄 We sampled almost all the small plates along with a few entrées. Here's how they ranked for us: Must Try / Very Good Palata with Chicken Curry Dip (absolute must-try) Nan Gyi Chicken Curry with Coconut Rice (best dish of the day) Shrimp Rolls Mango Salad Sweet Chili Tofu Coconut Noodle Soup Samosa Soup Average Tea Leaf Salad (not the best version we've had) Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp (a bit too sweet for our taste) Could Be Better Fried Chicken Salt & Pepper (Too crunchy - Didn’t feel the chicken or salt or pepper) Lettu

This feels like a great new addition to Redwood City if you’re into Burmese food. The space is quite large with an upscale, modern vibe, and it had a good crowd even on a weekday. The overall ambiance and service made a strong first impression. We started with the tea leaf salad, which is a must at any Burmese spot, and it did not disappoint. It had a great mix of textures and flavors with peanuts, lentils, cabbage, tomatoes, and greens, and it was freshly mixed at the table, which added to the experience. We also tried the shrimp rolls, which were very tasty. For mains, we ordered the fiery chicken and nan gyi thoke. The portions were generous, and the nan gyi chicken noodles stood out with really well-balanced flavoring. The biryani rice we ordered on the side was a pleasant surprise and had an authentic biryani-style flavor that paired really well with the chicken dishes. Overall, a solid experience with good food, great ambiance, and strong service. I would definitely come back when I’m craving Burmese food.

We went for lunch and ordered a few appetizers along with one main course. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. This time, we enjoyed everything so much that there were no leftovers to take home — a good sign, right? Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I’ll definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again soon.

Loved the unique flavors, it was a nice departure from our usual meals. It's a really large restaurant that can seat large groups if needed, and also has a nice outdoor dining space. It wasn't full when we had lunch so it was relatively quiet and easy to have conversation. Be aware that there are TVs in the main dining area, for better or worse depending on your kids.

I had lunch at Burma Spice in Redwood City and was thoroughly impressed. The service was excellent, and every dish—from the appetizers to the salad to the main course—was delicious. They also offer plenty of vegetarian options, which is a big plus. I highly recommend trying the Tea Leaf Salad, a classic staple of Burmese cuisine. It’s a must-order!
